Our Story
Dowd Shearing is proudly run by Quinn and Uri, who each bring more than 25 years of experience in the shearing industry. Their careers have taken them across Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Italy, building a depth of skill and professionalism that defines the business today.
Across a span of six years, Quinn and Uri travelled extensively throughout Australia, working in almost every state and gaining a broad understanding of regional shearing operations. Eight years ago, they settled in Katanning, a decision shaped by the strong community, excellent facilities and the ongoing demand for highly skilled shearing professionals.
They would also like to acknowledge Wayne Byrne and Gavin Willie, who were contracting in the region before Dowd Shearing took over operations.

Our Roles
Quinn
Shed Operations, Client Relations & Workflow Coordination
Quinn shears in the team and oversees all daily shed operations. He communicates directly with farmers, schedules upcoming work, monitors sheep numbers and deadlines, and ensures the team maintains a consistently high standard of work. Quinn is always on site to address any emerging challenges, and his hands‑on approach makes him highly effective in maintaining shed efficiency and smooth operations
Uri
Business Operations, Staff Co-ordination & Administrative Management
Uri is a qualified wool classer, though she no longer works in the shed. Instead, she manages staffing, bookwork and the broader business operations. She regularly monitors the wool markets, ensuring the wool clip preparation aligns with industry expectations. While she has complete confidence in the shed staff, when Uri visits the team, her focus is on clip preparation and wool room operations.
